In 1995, I moved to Long Island and took the train to Penn Station, Manhattan, and then walked to the "TWIN TOWERS" and went to the roof-top Observatory,,, Then I walked across the Brooklyn Bridge into Brooklyn and then walked across the Queensboro Bridge back into Manhattan, to Penn Station and took the train back home to Long Island... Such a nice walk.... I stayed in New York for a year, then became a Traveling Marketing Manager traveling America for 10 years...... GOSH, the NYC Skyline looks sooooo different, and now has sooooo many more Skyscrapers.

I hear American cities were nice, once upon a time...the envy of the world, they say....these days, American cities are brown, decrepit, collapsing, dirty, drug-ridden homeless camps and relics from 50-100 years ago with poor-to-no-maintenance in their upkeep...meanwhile, Shanghai, Dubai, Doha, Santiago de Chile, Seoul, Suzhou, Singapore, Busan, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Monterrey, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Ho Chi Minh, Istanbul, etc. have completely left them behind as the USA slowly sinks in the mud of the past century. This is what happens when your political institutions are irreparably corrupt and your society is impossibly decadent. Sad.

It's really lucky that Tom Hanks didn't have to put his Airbus down in the Flushing Bay. There wouldn't have been all the commercial ferries and water taxies to rescue the passengers like there was right at the particular place he put down in the Hudson River. There was probably no body of water in miles of the general vicinity of the bird strike with that many active commercial boats designed specifically to carry people all year round. What a stroke of good luck. Plus, the Flushing Bay looks disgusting. You'd probably need a haz mat shower and tetinus shot after being in that murky tidal estuary. I remember driving in through the Bronx and seeing all those garbage strewn canals and waterways as you approach LaGuardia. Ugh... I shudder to think of having to ditch in that water. Maybe they've since cleaned it up somewhat.

Some awesome views of NYC - greetings from Germany... Haven't been there yet, but my parents went there back in '78. Still got those photos. But i went to San Francisco 40+yrs ago when i was 12. We were circling a few laps, that's what i remember, but sadly i don't know any specific birdviews of that beautiful city anymore. But still that was my first thought, while watching this wonderful vid...

What a great view from multiple angles of the modern Manhattan skyline both downtown and midtown. I took the Staten Island Ferry to school each day during the late 1960s and the skyline in 2023 is barely recognizable with all the newer buildings.
